Make Your Good Stories Great with Ron Voller

If you’re a writer, you’ve probably thought about writing and publishing a book. While this is a huge achievement, getting it in front of readers is no walk in the park. Writing your story to figure out how to publish a book could be a challenge, especially for first-timers! Ron Voller,  a writer-producer-creator based in New York City joins us today to share his journey on how he came up with his first book and the knowledge, and strategies he picked over the years of writing.

Ron Voller has produced and created events for New York Fashion Week, Yahoo!, and Bloomberg, among others, Emmy Award-winning choreographers and producers, and Tony Award-winning set designers and directors.

He is a longtime researcher at the Huntington Library’s Munger Research Center and is currently enrolled in the Advanced Academic Programs at John’s Hopkins University where he is pursuing his Master of Liberal Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies. In addition to these activities, he works as a contributing writer, a consultant for writers and producers, and as a field producer for documentary films. He enjoys speaking with various groups on a broad range of subjects, including astronomy and physics as they relate to his work. His latest book, “Hubble, Humason and the Big Bang: The Race to Uncover the Expanding Universe,” is now available on Springer-Praxis.

Key Quotes

“If you want to write a textbook, then you can stay on the bullet points. It has value in that environment, right. But if you want to interest people, in why an eighth grade educated cowboy becoming an astronomer is cool and important. You need to be able to tell the story in a way that’s engaging and inspiring.” – Ron Voller

“The element of the story, the ability to take what somebody has done or something you think about a subject and really relate it to people so that they can understand it at the moment and be inspired by it. That’s, that’s a craft in and of itself.” – Ron Voller
